Team—
I know you all just finished your town hall - I hope you’re as thrilled as I am with the recent updates. Last time I sent you all a note, I mentioned the following: “I believe in this group. You all are some of the most dedicated and creative creators we have had the chance to work with - and we’re eager for that collaboration to endure.”
Through your commitment and adaptability, particularly over the past twelve months, you continue to prove that.
The community feedback from last fall’s the game playtest was revealing. It affirmed the appeal of a action-packed game but indicated we still had improvements to make. It uncovered the necessity for a clearer vision.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve advanced. You accepted the criticism to mind and reimagined Project ETHOS with a refreshed goal - one that’s ready to deliver on its promise to our audience.
Our confidence in Project ETHOS strengthens every day. To further the outstanding progress you’ve made, I am thrilled to introduce Ben Brinkman as the incoming Studio Head of 31st Union. After a period of discussions, Ben comes aboard us on the specified date.
His leadership and experience in the PVP shooter genre is considerable, having devoted the recent years producing and leading some of the most recognizable titles in gaming, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, and lately, the battle royale hit.
Please join me in greeting him in the coming days. We are all excited to keep witnessing the evolution of Project ETHOS in the weeks to ahead.
David
Brinkman presently holds the position of senior developer and head of production at Respawn Entertainment for Apex Legends. Brinkman earlier worked at Treyarch and Activision in diverse production roles on the Call of Duty series, and, before that, had periods at other industry leaders.
The upcoming game was unveiled in October 2024 together with a community playtest. At the time, 31st Union presented the title as a "free-to-play, 3rd-person action-packed experience and an exciting step forward on the genre."
"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Build your hero in live gameplay to match your preferred approach," the game's pitch states. "Take on the rivals with fresh skills, challenges, and challenges that shift every match. Do you withdraw carefully with your collected items? Alternatively take a risk, risk it all, and hope your squad can earn top ranking? The decision is up to you."
The game lacks an confirmed launch window or platforms, but players can look forward to more updates as production advances.
